NBA Round Up for December 27

NEW YORK: A total of five games were played on Tuesday where Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers won their games.

Atlanta Hawks 106, New Jersey Nets 70

In the first match played in Newark, New Jersey, the Atlanta Hawks defeated the home side New Jersey Nets by an easy margin of 106-70 as Vladimir Radmanovic scored 17 points.

The Atlanta Hawks used balanced attack in their first game of the new but abbreviated season and took no time in making short work of their opponents in great style as six of their players scored in double figures.

Marvin Williams scored 14 points and nine rebounds, Zaza Pachulia scored 13 points and 11 rebounds, Jeff Teague put 13 points in the tally, Tracy McGrady chipped in with 12 points while Joe Johnson finished the game with 11 points for the Atlanta Hawks.

It was the last game for the Nets in New Jersey and from the next game Brooklyn will be their new house and Marshon Brooks at least make this last game in the home town memorable for him as he scored 17 points for the second time in two nights.

Miami Heat 115, Boston Celtics 107

The Miami Heat made it two in two on Tuesday when they defeated the visiting Boston Celtics by 115-107 as rookie Norris Cole, who came as a substitute, made it big in the final quarter by scoring 14 of his 20 points.

Cole, 23, was successful in connecting 8-of-16 shots from the field and also came up with three vital steals as the last surge helped the Heat to burn Celtics.

The veteran champ LeBron James scored 26 points, Dwyane Wade added more life to the final tally for Miami Heat by hitting 24 points as well eight assists and four blocks, while Chris Bosh also proved his stature with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

The Boston Celtics were not in a great form as far as executing their moves as they committed as many as 24 turnovers and Miami Heat made full use of them scoring 33 points off them.

While the Miami Heat have won both of their opening games, the Boston Celtics faced second straight loss despite of 28 points from Ray Allen and 22 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds from Rajon Rondo.

Milwaukee Bucks 98, Minnesota Timberwolves 95

The Milwaukee Bucks held their nerves in a thrilling encounter on Tuesday to beat Minnesota Timberwolves by 98-95, thanks to Brandon Jennings and Andrew Bogut who scored 24 and 15 points respectively in Milwaukee Tuesday.

Brandon Jennings was in tremendous point-scoring form as he converted 14 out of his shots from the field and also put 9-of-10 from the free-throw line for the Milwaukee Bucks.

The victory came just at the right time for Milwaukee Bucks who had lost their season opener the other day.

Stephen Jackson also played his part by adding 16 points to the tally for bucks while Jon Leuer hit 14 points off the bunch.

On the other hand, Minnesota Timberwolves had to content with their second loss on the trot of the new season as Kevin Love led their effort with 31 points and 20 rebounds.

Even a late run failed to assist Minnesota and came at a striking distance at 94-92 with 1:41 left in the final buzzer but Love’s 3-points with 2.9 to play failed to steal the show in the end.

Portland Trail Blazers 101, Sacramento Kings 79

Portland Trail Blazers enjoyed home advantage to their liking as they saw off Sacramento Kings by a comfortable margin of 101-79 as Gerald Wallace hit 25 points while LaMarcus Aldridge helped the cause with 24 points in Portland Tuesday.

Gerland Wallance was inspirational after he came off the bench to score 8-of-11 while Aldridge hit 10-of-15 shots as the Portland Trail Blazers recorded their 10th victory over Sacramento Kings in their last 11 encounters.

On the flip side, Sacramento Kings got some support from DeMarcus Cousins who scored 16 points and 11 rebounds but none of the other players could match his performance to challenge the hosts.

Sacramento Kings started the game in control and led 25-23 after the first quarter but the next three quarters saw them straying away from their cause and hence lost their way completely. Especially the last half of the game completely belonged to Trail Blazers as they outscored their opponents by 55-33.

Los Angeles Lakers 96, Utah Jazz 71

The star NBA player Kobe Bryant was in superb form on Tuesday as he led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 96-71 victory over Utah Jazz by scoring 26 points.

Pau Gasol also played a crucial role scoring 22 points as the Los Angeles Lakers recorded their first victory of the NBA 2012 after losing their first two games under Coach Mike Brown.

While Bryant produced three of his five shots from 3-point range, Metta World Peace hit 14 points and Troy Murphy came up with 11 rebounds.

Utah Jazz opened their season with this game but lady luck didn’t smile at them as despite of 18 points and eight rebounds by Paul Millsap the visitors found them on the losing side.
