ISLAMABAD: The 6th National Tenpin Bowling Championship got underway on Thursday at Megazone Bowling Club of F-9 Park.
Chief Guest Hanif Abbasi, who inaugurated the championship, said while addressing on the occasion, “I have a special place for sports in my heart and that is why I’m working with all might to promote sports activities in Rawalpindi. We are planning to build a cricket stadium on Rawalpindi express’s name (Shoaib Akthar) as his name stands high in the World when it comes of fastest bowlers and he has made Rawalpindi and Pakistan’s name shine in the world.”
The bowling event is staged by Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation (PTBF) and will conclude on October 29. The competitions in singles, doubles, team event and amateur will be held during the event.
The position holders will also be awarded with attractive cash prizes. The singles event champion will get Rs50,000, the runner-up will be handed over Rs25,000, while the third and fourth-placed players will get richer by Rs15,000 and 5,000 respectively.
The doubles winners will be given away Rs20,000 and the runners-up will receive Rs10,000. The team event winners will go away with Rs 30,000 while the amateur champion will get Rs10,000, the runner-up will take Rs5000 while the bronze medalist will claim Rs3000.
PTBF vice-president Aleem Agha on the occasion said, that the purpose of this championship is to make this game popular among the youngsters, so that they participate at international level and bring laurels to the country. The matches of the event will be played today.
