Klitschko does away with lackluster Haye
HAMBURG: The most-anticipated bout of the year failed to live up to the expectations as Wladimir Klitschko of Ukraine dominated David Haye of Britain beating him on points in their unification bout at the Imtech Arena here Saturday night.
As promised, Wladimir Klitschko taught Haye a harsh lesson of international boxing and never let him dictate terms by any means thus stamping his dominance in the boxing arena for the times to come.
David Haye had been raising doubts on the referee and he certainly got a point to make in the media in the 11th round when a knockdown was awarded against him in a highly controversial manner.
Haye failed to match the excellence of Klitschko in the start and also couldn’t save himself from his opponent’s renowned jabs as Klitschko outpunched him landing twice as many of them in the bout which judges gave him, i.e. 117-109, 118-108, 116-110.
Roads are different now for the two boxers as David Haye is all set to retire from the sport well before his 31st birthday in October while on the flip side Klitschko has now got more or less all the notable boxing title belts on his waist in the heavyweight division.
Klitschko used his trademark jab, which has proved such a weapon down the years, to perfection during the bout and it proved the decisive factor in the end.
