Mike Tyson gets into Boxing Hall of Fame
CANASTOTA: The world renowned boxer Mike Tyson, on Sunday, was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame here.
Along with Mike Tyson, Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone, Mexican champ Julio Cesar Chavez, Russian-born junior welterweight Kostya Tszyu, Mexican trainer Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain and referee Joe Cortez were also included into the Boxing Hall of Fame.
An emotional Mike Tyson burst into tears and had to cut short his speech while an ecstatic Sylvester Stallone said, “Yo, Adrian, I did it!”.
Tyson who tried to give credit to his late trainer Cus D’Amato for his phenomenal success in boxing career had to leave the dais after emotions flew right through his eyes.
Sylvester Stallone, whose The “Rocky” movie series in 1976 enthralled the world boxing fans for decades, was simply excited about getting inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
Posthumous honorees enshrined included: bantamweight Memphis Pal Moore, light heavyweight champion Jack Root and middleweight Dave Shade in the old-timer category; British heavyweight John Gully in the pioneer category; promoter A.F. Bettinson; and former BBC broadcaster Harry Carpenter.
