Tension mounts ahead of Klitschko-Haye bout

HAMBURG: The world of boxing fans is just a couple of days away from one of the finest boxing contests in recent history as WBO and IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko is taking on WBA champion David Haye at Imtech Arena on Saturday.

The two camps have been claiming to keep an edge over each other in the buildup to the bout as the tension is mounting tremendously.

Wladimir Klitschko was hoping to get a glimpse of what Haye has up his sleeves when the British boxer showed up at a public training session, but Haye, who has said he has something new for his Ukranian opponent, only threw a single punch before quitting the ring.

The Saturday’s heavyweight fight will be shown on HBO and is estimated to be one of the most popular ones in recent history of the game as both boxers exchange harsh words in the buildup.

The German city of Hamburg is hosting the two lethal boxers but just a couple of days ahead of the bout things are getting bitter.

Klitschko looked bothered by Haye’s non-interest in training as he told an international news agency after his full-hour training session, “I can’t even take it seriously. It’s not even funny anymore. You can trash talk a certain time, but as I said, reality is coming … and it’s serious business. It won’t be funny for David Haye.”

With war of punches still a couple of days away, the two boxers have traded some real harsh insults.

Haye told international media on Wednesday, “Their (Boxing Fans) message is ‘get Wladimir out of this division because he’s killing it. It’s only now, since I’ve started doing my thing, that people think, ‘OK, let me see what this guy’s all about, maybe we’ve got an entertaining fight here.’”

The brief show by David Haye infuriated Wladimir Klitschko who told media, “I think he sits in the room in the hotel and he thinks: ‘What else can I do’ to anger the Klitschko team. But little by little we’re coming to the reality. And reality’s name is July 2.”
