BRISTOL: Bangladesh held their nerves here Saturday to stun England in the second One Day International of the Natwest Series 2010 played at County Ground as Jonathan Trott failed to inspire the home side to cross the line.

It all went to the last over with England requiring 10 runs to win with last pair at the crease. Jonathan Trott who was in his nineties had the company of an injured Ian Bell at the non-strikers end and he managed to steal four runs from the first two Yorkers by Shafiul Islam. However, the bowler changed the length and pace for the third delivery of the over that caught Trott in no-man’s land and he nicked one to the wicket keeper that eventually ended the resistance.
Batting first, Bangladesh could manage a mediocre 236 runs for the loss of seven wickets from 50 overs. The star of the innings was opener Imrul Kayes who scored fighting 76 runs from his 111 balls. He found good support in shape of Jahurul Islam who hit 40 from 53 balls, but none of the other batsmen could stay at the crease. In the end, little cameo by skipper Mashrafe Murtaza helped the visitors score a reasonable score and gave their bowlers something to bowl at.
England, without services of Kevin Pietersen were relying heavily on skipper Andrew Strauss and Eoin Morgan, but the effort came from an unlikely corner as Jonathan Trott rose up to the occasion and scored a fighting knock but he lacked scores from his mates. Strauss fell for 33 from 36 balls while Kieswetter managed 20 from 17 balls. While Trott continued to play a sheet anchor role Collingwood (10), Morgan (1), Yardy (10), and Luke Wright (15) couldn’t help him along as after some blitz by Stuart Broad (21 from 25), Trott was left with no option but to take his chances as the scoring rate kept on climbing.

In the final over, he nicked one straight to wicketkeeper Jahurul that eventually ended the English resilience but on the flip side there were some emotional scenes in the Bangladeshi camp with all the players and the team management found themselves on the moon.
BD skipper Mashrafe Murtaza was declared Man of the Match for his all-round performance with 2/42 and 22 from 25 balls.
