Mohammad Asif changes legal defence official

LONDON: Languishing in a British jail for committing crime of spot-fixing, former Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Asif has changed his legal team anticipating change of fortunes for him.

The new team will launch an appeal against conviction and sentence of Mohammad Asif who was awarded a 12-month imprisonment for his role in the spot-fixing scandal by the Southwark Court London, local media reported Tuesday.

Other characters in the controversy that brought a bad name to the sport of cricket, former captain Salman Butt and left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Aamir were jailed for 30 months and six months respectively.

It is important to mention here that both Salman Butt and Mohammad Aamir have already lodged appeals against their sentences which would be heard on Wednesday.
