Pak trio charged of spot-fixing
LONDON: The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has announced that they have solid evidences against the tainted Pakistani trio and they have been accused of bowling deliberate no-balls during the fourth npower test match against England at Lord’s.
“We have decided that Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif, Salman Butt and their agent, Mazhar Majeed, should be charged with conspiracy to obtain and accept corrupt payments and also conspiracy to cheat,” said by CPS spokesman.
The players, i.e. Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Amir, and their agent Mazhar Majeed have been directed to appear before the West Minister court on March 17 at London.
Scotland Yard was investigating the matter since September last year and announced their verdict today, just a day before when ICC independent tribunal is due to announce its verdict on February 5 at Doha.
CPS spokesman denied that the timing for announcing the verdict had any relation with Michael Beloff-led ICC independent tribunal. The trio can be served for seven years imprisonment if the charges proved against them.
The tainted Pakistan players can be banned for life time by the ICC independent tribunal if found guilty.
