KARACHI: The Selection Committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the replacements for the three cricketers suspended by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Asad Shafiq

The ICC suspended three Pakistani cricketers, Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif, and Mohammad Aamer, from international cricket for their alleged involvement in the spot-fixing. The players have been give a 14-day period to appeal against the penalization. It is important to mention here that if any of these players found guilty of the crime then the least punishment would be a five-year ban from international cricket and the most a lifetime ban.

Mohammad Irfan

Sources in the PCB told The Sports Encounter that Shahid Khan Afridi had requested Mohsin Hasan Khan for the inclusion of three players including Mohammad Irfan, Yasir Arafat, and Asad Shafiq.

Shahid Afridi and Waqar Younis had earlier selected the lanky fast bowler Mohammad Irfan for the ICC World Twenty20 but the PCB Chairman, Ejaz Butt, had stopped them from doing so.

Yasir Arafat

Yasir Arafat has been in and out of the Pakistani team and this time he has been given the chance to exploit his England experience to the advantage of Pakistan, the sources added.

The sources further stated that Shahid Afridi also reposed his trust on the young right-hand batsman Asad Shafiq, who scored 109 not out runs against Sri Lanka A playing for Pakistan A on Thursday in Sri Lanka.
