PCB chief paying people to stay quiet: Sarfraz Nawaz

KARACHI: Pakistan’s former Test cricketer, Sarfraz Nawaz has lashed out at new chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mr. Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf saying he knows how to shut the mouth of his critics and is using money to hush up the people who oppose him.

Talking to a local news channel the other evening, Sarfraz Nawaz, who has the reputation of whistleblower against the menace of match fixing and spot fixing, said that in the first step, the PCB chairman paid media persons and regional associations’ authorities to win their support.

He stated, “PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf doesn’t know how to run cricket, but he surely knows how exactly to keep his critics quiet. Everyone knows, Zaka was facing corruption charges, and now he is starting his same job at the PCB. “I don’t have any personal issue with him, but can’t see cricket in disaster”, he said adding, “He started with paying regional cricket associations’ authorities and media persons, because he knew these guys could have created hurdles for him”.

Sarfraz Nawaz was of the view that if Zaka Ashraf sent Pakistani cricket team to India, it will not be a good decision. “It’s good Pakistani team playing cricket continuously, but our nation needs cricket on the home soil. Pakistani team visited India last time now it’s India’s turn to send their team to Pakistan”.

“Sri Lanka have also announced that they are ready to send their team to Pakistan so chairman must rememorize the BCCI their promises”, he said adding, “With this step, it seems that PCB Chairman doesn’t have any vision about Pakistan cricket’s betterment”.
