TSE Exclusive: Mohammad Aamir may get freed next month
Mike Brearley all set to meet ICC Anti Corruption Unit
Lie detector tests may be made mandatory: Brearley
MUMBAI: Pakistani discarded fast bowler, Mohammad Aamir, who is serving sentence in the Weymouth Young Offenders Institution, is likely to get released next month due to his good behaviour, The Sports Encounter has learnt.
Mike Brearley, the new chairman of the World Cricket Committee (WCC) is scheduled to meet the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit head next month.
Speaking exclusively with The Sports Encounter from Ahmedabad, Brearley said, Sir Ronnie Flanagan, the ACSU chairman has been invited to attend the meeting in Cape Town next month.
Very few may be aware that Flanagan was also an amateur cricketer and has played rugby at senior level for Ulster province in his native Ireland.
Brearley’s views on corruption of the game are widely known. “Corruption is the single biggest cancer in this game”, he said. “I am not sure whether we would discuss whether the lie detector tests for the players be made mandatory”, he said. However, the possibility is not ruled out either.
For the record purpose, the former England captain and the psychologist (registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council) has suggested that the Pakistani pace bowler Aamir be treated more leniently.
Interestingly, there was a strong rumour on Tuesday in Pakistan and England that the bowler, Aamir has been released from the jail.
In fact, it was not to be. Being detained at Weymouth Young Offenders Institution, he may, however be released early on grounds of good behaviour in the jail.

Aamir should be freed because there is immense pressure on the new entrants and if your seniors are suffering from a scourge then it’s highly likely that they will force you into their business.
