Asian Champions Trophy 2011: Pakistan hold India 2-2 to enter final

ORDOS: The high voltage match between arch rivals Pakistan and India was ended in a draw by 2-2 as Pakistan qualified for the final of first edition of Asian Champions Trophy 2011.

The match was played at high pace as both teams were looking to dominate and played attacking game. India needed to win the match to secure their place in the final but they have to settle for draw as this was their third game in the competition which ended in no result.

Both teams failed to score goal in the first half as the score was 0-0 at half time. Pakistan started the second half well and dominated the first fifteen minutes. Waqas Sharif broke the shackles in the 40^th minute of the match and gave Pakistan important lead.

Ten minutes later, skipper Mohammad Imran converted the penalty corner and doubled the Pakistan lead. Indian came back strongly in the last 20 minutes as Rupinderpaul reduced the deficit and scored the first Indian goal.

Danish Mujtaba again emerged as the hero for the Indian hockey team as he scored the all important equalizer. Pakistan denied Indian the third goal as the Indians settled for draw and now will closely monitor the last two leagues matches between South Korea and China and Malaysia vs Japan, the results of these two matches will decide the second finalist.

India, South Korea and Japan have the chance to play Pakistan in the final but it will decide later today. Pakistan have the unique record of winning the inaugural edition of all the important international hockey events like World Cup, Champions Trophy, Asia Cup and Asian Games and now they have the great opportunity to win the Asian Champions Trophy final.
