Karachi Open Table Tennis Tourney starts
KARACHI: The Majeed Khan Memorial Table Tennis Tournament began here at Islamia Club Soldier Bazaar Karachi on Sunday evening.
Over three (300) hundred players are reportedly appearing in the Tournament.
The formal inauguration of the Tournament was performed in the evening by Ms. Shams Jeeve Chairperson Agha Khan Youth & Sports Board.
Other Guests of Honor included Dr. Farhan Esa Chairman KTTA, Mr. Zulfiqar Ahmed Associate Secretary KTTA, Mr. Sohail Mazhar Sports officer HBL, Mr. Arif Khan Table Tennis Saif Gold Medallist & Mr. Ali Shan A. Malik Chairman organizing committee of the Tournament.
The competition is being held in Men’s / Women’s Singles /Doubles, Boys / Girls Under 18 & Under 15 Singles.
On first day of the tournament Muzammil Ahmed of SSBC beat Hamza Raza of HTTC by 11–9, 11–5, 11–2 in the Boy’s Under-18 1st round match.
In other matches of the same category Muhammad Yousuf defeated Fakhar Ali by 6–11, 11–9, 9–11, 11–9, 11–5; Hasan Ali of Creek Club overpowered Umer Ahmed of PBS by 11–2, 11–3, 11–9.
