Pak thrash India in squash semi final

GUANGZHOU: Pakistan thrashed arch-rivals India in the semi final of squash team event in 16th Asian Games by 2-0 here at Guangzhou, China.

Farhan Mehboob

In the first match, Farhan Mehboob of Pakistan beat Siddharth Nimesh of India in closely fought match by 3-1. Farhan Mehboob won the first set by 16-14 in 32 minutes but lost the second set by 10-12. Both players played well in the third set as well but Farhan took the set by 11-9. Nimesh had no answers of Farhan’s brilliance in the fourth set as Farhan took the set and match by 11-5. The match was lasted for about 83 mins.

Aamir Atlas Khan

In the second match, Pakistan’s top player Aamir Atlas Khan, who already won the silver medal for Pakistan in ongoing Asian Games in squash individual event, defeated Saurav Ghosal by 3-1. Atlas won the first set by 15-13 but lost the second set 11-5. Aamir Atlas took the last sets in now time by 11-5 and 11-6. Aamir Atlas took 52 minutes to complete the victory.

Pakistan will now face Malaysia in the final of squash team event tomorrow.
