Berbatov keeps United unbeaten at Blackpool

LONDON: Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov continued his good form in the English Premier League season as he again came-up as the savior for the Sir Alex Ferguson in EPL clash against Blackpool on Tuesday evening.

Blackpool threatened Red Devils for the first defeat of the season with two goals from corners in the first half. Former Manchester United player Craig Cathcart scored the first goal of the match when he found himself unmarked on Charlie Adam’s corner kick in the 15th minute.

Blackpool picked the pace after taking lead and kept the pressure on the chart leaders which eventually paid off just before the half time when Campbell converted another corner kick of Adam in the 43rd minute of the match. Blackpool was the better side in the first half as they finished the first half with 2-0 lead.

Sir Alex Ferguson changed tactics after the break as he introduced his key player Ryan Giggs at the start of the second half in place of Gibson and Red Devils came back strongly in the second half as Rooney was also replaced by Hernandez in the 66th minute and they scored two goals in just three minutes. First it was leading scorer of the league Berbatov, who reduced the deficit in the 72nd minute and then it was again Mexican star Hernandez who scored the all important equalizer in the 74th minute of the match.

The score was 2-2 till the 87th minute when Berbatov scored his second goal of the match and 20th goal of the season for United which gave his team three important points as United maintained their dominance in the points table.

 

 

In other match of Tuesday, Aston Villa defeated Wigan Athletic by 2-1. Manchester United is top of the points table with 51 points from 23 matches while Arsenal are on the second spot with 46 points and Manchester City are on the third place with 45 points.
