Berbatov leads goal-scorers at EPL
LONDON: As the battle for the Barclays English Premier League (EPL) title heats up, the role of forwards become more important by every match.
The more goals a team scores in this second half, the more their chances are bright to lift the accolade.
With around 14-15 matches left to claim the EPL title, the League is topped by Manchester United as they have grabbed 51 points from their 23 matches so far; followed by Arsenal with 46 points from 23 matches, Manchester City with 45 points from 24 matches, Chelsea with 41 from 23 matches, and Tottenham Hotspur with 38 points from 23 matches.
Manchester United look all set to dethrone Chelsea from the EPL title they won last year thanks to their main striker Dimitar Berbatov, who has scored 19 goals so far and leading the rest of the forwards in the League.
Carlo Tevez, who a couple of seasons back won the EPL title for Red Devils, is at second position with 14 goals to his name playing for Manchester City. Andrew Carroll of Newcastle United come next in the list as his 11 goals have taken the soccer club to eight spot in the current season so far. Chelsea are still in the top five thanks to Didier Drogba whose 10 goals have made a difference for the Londoners in their title defence campaign. Darren Bent of Sunderland has also played a pivotal part in keeping Sunderland in the top upper ten with 9 goals to his name.
The intensity is all set to further rise in the days to come but once again it all comes to strikers as the team with best strikers will have the best chances of scoring the crucial goals to claim the English Premier League 2011.
