Carlos Tevez desires to quit Manchester City
LONDON: The English Premier League (EPL) club Manchester City will have to start searching for a new strikers as their captain Carlos Tevez said Tuesday that he wanted to leave the soccer club for personal reasons.
In a statement to British media, Tevez said, “It is with great regret that I have to inform Manchester City of my wish to leave the club. I would like to state that I have great respect for the club, its supporters and the owner Sheikh Mansoor, who has been nothing other than respectful to me”.
Carlos Tevez, who joined the Manchester City from their arch-foes Manchester United in 2009, had been saying off and on that he wished to leave the EPL club for personal reasons.
The Argentinean striker also expressed his desire to quit Manchester City in December but withdrew his transfer request a couple of days later.
Talking about his decision and expected fallout from his British fans Tevez said, “I hope that the people understand the difficult circumstances I have been living under the past 12 months, in regards to my family. Living without my children in Manchester has been incredibly challenging for me. Everything I do, I do for my daughters, Katie and Florencia. I need to be closer to them and to spend more time with them.”
Carlos Tevez, 27, has been living in England without his family and still has got three more years with the club as per his contract.
Tevez had a brilliant previous EPL season as he was co-leading scorer with Dmitri Berbatov as the both strikers scored 20 goals apiece. His goal-scoring abilities helped the Manchester City to finish third ahead of the Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
