Champions League Final: Barca term Rooney The Dangerman in United

LONDON: The 2011 UEFA Champions League final will be played on Saturday at Wembley between the two best European soccer clubs i.e. Manchester United and Barcelona and fans are bracing themselves for the breath-taking encounter.

As the fans are looking for the thriller at Wembley, the teams are also gearing up for the big occasion and working on the strong and weak points of the oppositions. The star Barca defender Gerard Pique is targeting English striker Wayne Rooney and termed him as the danger man in the Manchester United team.

Barcelona had defeated their Spanish arch-rival Real Madrid in the semi final while Manchester United overcame the Schalke 04 challenge in their semifinal tie. Pique is of the opinion that his former team-mate Wayne Rooney is one of the best strikers in the world. “He is one of the best strikers in the game and has scored a lot of goals,” he said.

“I will have to concentrate hard to not to give him space. I have a good friendship with him but we both want to win this game and we will be fighting for our own interests. It was always difficult playing against him in training as it is with (Lionel) Messi now,” Pique added.

Pique also paid tribute to Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson who has just won his 12th EPL title and said, “He has won loads of titles and although the teams change he keeps on winning. I had several really good years there but Barcelona is my home and I wanted to return here. He (Ferguson) understood this.”
