EPL 2011-12: Dzeko named best player in August

LONDON: Brilliant performances in the first three matches of the Barclays English Premier League 2011-12 for Manchester City have earned striker Edin Dzeko the Barclays Player of the Month award for August.

The Bosnian striker was brilliant with his goal-scoring skills in the first two victories of the fresh season for the Manchester City as they defeated Swansea City 4-0 and then Bolton Wanderers by 3-2 before adding four more goals to his tally in his team’s memorable 5-1 away victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the month of August.

The Manchester City are looking good on the Barclays English Premier League 2011-12 tables as they are second below the Manchester United only on goal difference.

The decision was made by the Barclays Awards Panel that includes representatives from football’s governing bodies, the media and fans.
