Karachi Union Football League: Usmanabad beat Frontier City 2-0

KARACHI: Usmanabad Union recorded a 2-0 win over Frontier City (Banaras) and bagged three points in the 9th UBL Omni Karachi United Football League (KUFL) match played at Aga Khan Gymkhana Garden West on Tuesday evening.

Usmanabad Union scored the first goal of the match through Mehboobur Rahman in the 36th minute while Mohammad Imran doubled the lead two minutes later (38’) to race to a 2-0 lead over Frontier City at lemon time.

During the interval former International and Saff Games Gold Medalist and Vice President DFA Central Salim Patni introduced the players while Mohammad Shamim and Adam Jan, Vice Presidents DFA Central, Chairman Referees West Chaudhry Israr, Organising Secretary Riaz Ahmed and others were also present on the occasion.

In the second half Frontier City kept on attacking Usmananabad Union for leveling the score result and eventually were awarded a penalty kick but Zahid Khan failed to force the issue.

While Usmanabad Union were enjoying a comfortable lead but their dominance was dented in the 76th minute when referee showed Babar Ali Red Card due to serious foul play against the opponent striker.

Usmanabad Union played remaining time with 10 players. However, they maintained their 2-0 lead at full time and registered first victory in the KUFL.

Usmanabad Union now have four points from six games while Frontier City are yet to open their account after four matches.

Kalri Star Lyari will face FC Rover (Malir Cantt) on Thursday at 3:00 pm at Trans Lyari Football Stadium, Old Golimar.
