Karachi United Football League: Irfan Memorial upset Baloch Mohammedan
KARACHI: Irfan Memorial (Landhi) pulled of an upset in the Karachi United Football League (KUFL) with a 2-1 win over Baloch Mohammedan (Malir) and to bag three valuable points. Match played at Korangi Baloch Stadium Sharafi being organized by Karachi United Football Foundation (KUFF) Sunday evening.
Irfan Memorial dominated from the start. Their strikers Abdullah, Farhan Khan, Fazal Baloch and Ayaz Sammun put the opposition under constant pressure. Front Runner Abdullah took an early lead in the 5th minute when he received a cross from speedy left winger Ayaz Sammun.
However, Baloch Mohammedan pulled once back just before half time when International Nasim Akhtar healed the ball in the 42 minute. The game was delicate 1-1 at half time.
In the second half teams went at each other to take the lead but opposing goal keepers and defenders kept the score line the same.
Baloch Mohammedan forwards Roshan Aziz, Akhtar Razzaq and Asif Hakeem came close but were thwarted by Irfan Memorial’s goalie Kamran. In reply, Irfan Memorial strikers Ayaz Sammun, Farhan Khan, Abdullah and Fazal Baloch and Midfielder Shabaz Sammun and Zahoor Ahmed also tried to score out of whom Midfielder Shabaz Sammun eventually managed to give his side a 2-1 lead in the 82nd minute that helped them record their 4 win.
The result gave Irfan Memorial 14 points from 7 games as they 3rd position in group ‘B” while Baloch Mohammedan 10 points from 7 games.
The match was supervised by Referees Ahmed Mian, Shoukat Ali and Asad Mahmood with Abdul Karim as the Match Commissioner.
