Karachi United Schools Championship: City School, AKHSS into last-eight

City School PAF hold Southshore, Aga Khan beat Beaconhouse Gulshan, Beaconhouse Jubilee beat City School PECHS for 3rd place

KARACHI: The 7th HBL Karachi United Schools Championship 2011-12 saw three more group games decided on Tuesday at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi.

In Group ‘D’, Aga Khan Higher Secondary School edged past Beaconhouse Gulshan 1-0. Group ‘B’ saw top two sides The City School PAF Chapter hold Southshore School 0-0, while Beaconhouse Jubilee hammered City School PECHS 4-0 to finish 3rd in the group.

Aga Khan Higher Secondary School battled hard to edge past Beaconhouse Gulshan in a gripping tie. Yasir Shah provided AKHSS with the lone goal of the game in 36th minute to decide the tie. The result helped AKHSS top their group with 7 points from 3 games, hence confirming a place in the last-eight stage of the KUSC 2011-12.

In Group B, the top two sides The City School PAF Chapter and Southshore School played out a tense 0-0 draw to confirm both their places in the next round. Both sides tried their best to score, but opposing goalkeepers were up to the task the entire game. The result left City School PAF with 7 points from 3 games while Southshore have 4 points from 2 games.

The other Group ‘B’ clash saw Beaconhouse Jubilee finish 3rd in the group with a 4-0 win over The City School PECHS. Braces from Danial Soomro (18′, 46′) and captain Danial Rehman (41′, 45′) helped BSS Jubilee record an easy win as they finished their KUSC campaign with 3 points from 3 games to finish 3rd in the group.

Referees were Babar Khan, Abdul Wahid, Farrukh Riaz, and Chaudhry Sarfraz, while match commissioner was Abdul Karim.
