Kuyt brilliance stuns Manchester United

LONDON: The Dutch striker of Liverpool Dirk Kuyt scored a brilliant hat-trick against the chart leaders Manchester United on Sunday evening as Red Devils title hopes got dented severely with moral losing defeat of 3-1.

The Reds took the control of the match at very early stage as Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United looked out of sort and struggled to find the combination. Kuyt stunned the Red Devils with two goals in span of just five minutes as he scored the opening goal of the match in 33rd minute and doubled the Liverpool lead with another goal in 39th minute.

Liverpool was the happy of the two teams as they finished the first half with 2-0 lead. Manchester United failed to grab their chances in the second half as Sir Alex Ferguson also had to brought in his another striker Hernandez in place of injured Nani in the 45th minute of the match

 

 

Kuyt completed his hat-trick with Liverpool’s third goal in the 64th minute of the match. This is the first hat-trick by any Liverpool player against Manchester United since Peter Beardsley in September 1990.

Kenny Dalglish played his full strength in the important encounter as Suarez was also present at the pitch till the 89th minute and the much awaited £35m signing of Liverpool Andy Carroll also made his debut for The Reds in the 73rd minute by substituting Meireles.

 

Hernandez scored the consolation goal for the Manchester United in the 90th minute of the match but the match was over for the Red Devils till that time.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish was happy with his team performance and said, “Everyone gave everything they had to beat Manchester United and they played so well. They were all outstanding in different ways. Dirk got three goals and will get the headlines and Luis played fantastically well but the rest of them weren’t too far behind. Without the contribution of the rest the boys would not have had as an enjoyable afternoon. We know it is a good victory and very important for us.”
