Nani journey of FIFA World Cup over

PORT ELIZABETH: Portugal winger Nani is the latest addition in injury list of players who missed the FIFA World Cup.

Portuguese Football Federation has said Nani is not fit for the FIFA World Cup due to bruised left collarbone despite of receiving treatment for several days. We have requested to FIFA technical committee to replace Nani with Ruben Amorim.

Portugal due to face Mozambique in a warm-up game and they will start their World Cup campaign against Ivory Coast on June 15.

With injury to Manchester United’s Nani, Cristiano Ronaldo is now the only and major hope of Portugal and they will rely heavily on him to make an impact in the FIFA World Cup. Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz is disappointed over the injury of Nani as he was the second best player for Portugal in FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with three goals.

Amorim had an outstanding season at Benfica but yet to make international debut for the Portugal.
