Park gives Red Devils victory against Wolves
LONDON: Park Ji-sung came from nowhere to strike the decisive goals as Manchester United proved fortunate enough to defeat Wolverhampton Wanderers by two goals to one in a weekend match of the Barclays English Premier League on Saturday.
The Red Devils looked set to score one point before the 93rd minute of the match when the South Korean midfielder defeated Wolves goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann to make Sir Alex Ferguson jump in joy.
With this victory, the Manchester United have reduced Chelsea’s lead to two points but they had to pay the price for it. Owen Hargreaves, who was playing in his first match in two years, had to limp off the ground just after five minutes of his entry thus putting question mark on his availability for the future encounters.
Park Ji-Sung celebrates with teammates Javier Hernandez and Gabriel Obertan after scoring the winning goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Red Devils now have 23 points from 11 matches, which takes the unbeaten team to second position in the League. Chelsea have 25 points and are playing Liverpool later today. Arsenal have slipped to third place with 20 points but they can replace United if they defeat Newcastle United today.
With injury to Hargreaves, Sir Alex Ferguson now finds it tough enough to place a winning combination in the centre as Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov are already out due to an illness, Nani also got injured last week while Wayne Rooney is also going through rehabilitation from injury.
An ecstatic Sir Ferguson told the official website of the soccer club, “Right on halftime and right on the final whistle are amazing times to score. But Ji’s in great form actually, he’s been one of our best players in recent weeks”.
