Park helps United dislodge Gunners

OLD TRAFFORD: South Korean star striker Park Ji-Sung guided Manchester United to reclaim their top spot in the EPL points tables as they beat title rivals Arsenal by 1-0 last night at Old Trafford.

It was one of the highliy anticipated encounter of the current EPL season as both teams were in great form and were fighting to secure top place in EPL points table. Manchester United could have scored more goals but they missed countless opportunities during the match.

Rooney missed a penalty in 17 minutes to shock Red Devils fans as his effort balloned over way over the bar and it was Park again who came to rescue his team in the season with goal in the 40th minute of the match. Park also scored decisive goal for Manchester United in injury time against Wolverhampton Wanderers last month.

Gunners tried their level best to equalize as Arsene Wenger also sent his trump card Febregas and Persi in 63rd and 64th minute in place of Rosicky and Wilshere but Manchester United defence was tight enough to deny Arsenal attack. Theo Walcott wasted the Arsenal’s last chance.

Manchester United’s manager Sir Alex Ferguson was excited about his team performance and said “we had to play well tonight, but we have been playing well. The first-half was excellent and we should have done better on the counter-attack in the second. But our back four did really well. They are really getting their form now.”

The disappointed Gunners manager Arsene Wenger also slammed  Old Trafford ground and said “Manchester United defended very well, but technically, the quality of the game was average. We were not quick and sharp in possession. That was partly down to their defending but also the quality of the pitch.”

Manchester United is now leading the EPL table with 34 points in 16 matches while Arsenal and Manchester City are in second place with 32 points each in 17 matches.
