Premier League: Fergie, Vidic honoured with Barclays awards
LONDON: The Manchester United due, Sir Alex Ferguson and skipper Serbian Nemanja Vidic have won the Barclays awards for the current season. This is the record ninth time that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has won the Barclays Manager of season award.
Sir Alex Ferguson has taken Manchester United to record 19th English Premier League title and this was his 12th EPL title under his tenure as Manager. Manchester United skipper Nemanja Vidic, who has been in exceptional form this season, was given captain armband by Sir Alex Ferguson has fully justified the manager decision and was rock solid in Red Devils defence.
Manchester United has conceded only 35 goals this season and Vidic had a major role in blocking the opponents attack on Red Devils goal post. Vidic also scored five goals for Manchester United this season. This is the first time that Vidic has won the Barclays Player of the season.
The decision of awards was made by the Barclays awards panel, which includes representatives from football’s governing bodies, media and fans.
