Aggression was the name of the game for Manchester City as if they thrashed their opponents like they were playing against any second of third division club, literally scathed the confidence level of the Sunderland players.

The game started with a lively action as Manchester City scored two goals within the first 15 minutes, thanks to opening goal by Adam Johnson which was doubled by Carlos Tevez converting a penalty kick emphatically.

Sunderland then managed to keep away the goal-scorers but only till the 63rd minute of the match when David Silva put his name on the goal scorers’ list. Silva’s goal started another goal-scoring spree where Patrick Vieira coming off the bench scored his goal from his first touch and then in the 73rd minute Yaya Toure completed the rout with a brilliant goal.

For some reasons, Roberto Mancini, Manchester City Manager, changed the course of his game plan and decided to opt for an aggressive combination rather than the alleged defensive style earlier in the season, a move which paid off huge dividends as the pair of Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli provided the goods for the London club.

With this huge victory, Manchester City have done a world of good to their Champions League spot, a target which topped the priority list of Roberto Mancini.

Sir Alex Ferguson, Big Boss of Red Devils, watched his arch rivals playing from the stands as he might be taking notes for the upcoming FA Cup Semi-Final clash against City.

In another match on Sunday, Arsenal were held for 0-0 draw by Blackburn Rovers.

Manchester City are now 10 points away from Manchester United who 66 points from 31 matches; Arsenal are second with 59 points from 30 games, Chelsea are standing at fourth position with 55 points from 30 games, while Tottenham Hotspurs complete the top 5 with 50 points from 30 matches.
