Premier League: Vidic urges Red Devils to forget FA Cup defeat
LONDON: The Manchester United Serbian defender has urged his teammates to lift their game and target two titles this season as Manchester City shattered their dream of completing the treble by beating them 1-0 in semi final of FA Cup on Saturday at Wembley.
Manchester United will face Newcastle United in their Premier League clash on Tuesday and they will have the services of their star striker Wayne Rooney who will re-join the team after completing the FA ban of two matches but they will miss their veteran midfielder Paul Scholes who served red card in Saturday clash against Manchester City.
“We lost a moment’s concentration and conceded a goal in the process. Then when you go down to 10 men and it was difficult to get many chances against City. In the first half we played some good football. We had two or three chances but didn’t take them. Then in the second half when we lost a goal, it was difficult to take. Obviously when you are playing with 10 men you are chasing the game,” said Vidic.
“We have to think about the next game against Newcastle especially after losing the semi-final to City. It will be a very important game for us. We still have many games to play. Obviously the next one is the most important one. We have to play the best we can and win that game,” he added.
