Red Devils beat Chelsea in season opener

LONDON: Manchester United put on display their traditional game of soccer on Sunday to kick their 2010-11 season on a high as they defeated the English Premier League Champions, Chelsea by three goals to one in the Community Shield season opener at Wembley.

The best part of the victory for the Manchester United fans was the goal from their latest signing from Mexico, Javier Hernandez who chipped in with the second of the three goals scored by the former EPL champions.

Antonio Valencia opened the scoring in the 41st minute which was enhanced by the Mexican in the 76th minute. Sir Alex Ferguson decided to launch Dimitar Berbatov in the dying moments of the clash who scored the third goal for the Red Devils in the stoppage time to complete the drubbing.

 

 

The fresh season of the Barclays English Premier League is just five days away and Manchester United made their intentions pretty clear with a thoroughly controlled game at the Wembley.

Chelsea’s only goal came from Salomon Kalou who scored just six minutes from the official time. With this victory, the Manchester United have won the 45th Community Shield trophy under Sir Alex Ferguson.
