Rooney still a star player: Giggs

OLD TRAFFORD: The 24-year-old star striker of Manchester United, Wayne Rooney, was given a helping hand as he received support and backing from his teammate Ryan Giggs who leaped to the defence of the troubled Rooney advising him to ignore the critics and rediscover his top form.

Rooney, who was seen in the front and back pages of the newspapers as a star footballer, is recently undergoing a tough period as the 24-year-old striker is now dominating the media as a super failure since 2010 FIFA World Cup due to his poor performances on the pitch and personal problems and scandals off the field.

But Giggs, who has seen it all during his illustrious career at Old Trafford, is convinced that his troubled teammate will bounce back and show his true quality.

The 36-year-old commented that Rooney is obviously a true quality player. The quality of his game can be seen in the season he had last year where he single-handedly won games for us adding that Wayne is certainly facing the pressure that world class players normally face.

Giggs, at the same time is of the view that in times like this, Manchester United must at all costs learn the fact of not to be reliant on Rooney adding that he admits that the 24 year old star hasn’t started the season on fire, but it’s not a problem as Red Devils have a long season ahead and we can’t just rely on one player.
