Thierry Henry comes back with a BANG, sets high goals for Arsenal
The Gunners are celebrating again! Well, the season-winning euphoria is still a far cry for the Arsenal fans but they are celebrating the return of their champion. Thierry Henry has come back at the Emirates Stadium with the same old touch of magic and this is what making Arsenal fans going crazy.
Thierry Henry who has recently joined his former English Premier League club made a huge difference the other night when he scored the winning goal to leave his fans proud in the world of their own.
The bigger goals are set for the returning Arsenal champ by the team management but Thierry Henry is back for a short period and the maestro has set some targets for him during this short stint.
Thierry Henry told the local media the other day that he wanted his EPL club to finish at least in top four and said the it would be a dream to play against Tottenham Hotspur.
Henry said, “We obviously don’t want to drop out of those positions. There’s going to be a hell of a competition this year to be in them. But I do think this team does have what it takes to finish in the top four, particularly if you think about the way the team has come back from the beginning of the season. I know that people want more, and I can assure you that the players want more. Targeting a place in the top four is not what you want to see as an Arsenal fan and, trust me, as an Arsenal player also. But the team is slowly getting into form. The season is still long, anything can happen.”
It is important to mention here that Thierry Henry rejoined Arsenal on January 6, 2012 on loan from New York Red Bulls, a Major League Soccer side, and will stay at the North London Derby till February 16, 2012 but there are possibilities that Henry get 10 more days at his former club as the MLS season is not active at the moment.
Henry, who joined Arsenal, as a cover for Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh both busy playing in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, was instrumental in his first appearance of Arsenal this season as he scored the only goal against Leeds United in the FA Cup match.
The veteran soccer player is fully aware of the fact that the Arsenal are not looking good from the EPL title’s perspective and his admittance to the fact did make some of the fans pensive but his mission to help Arsenal end among the top four teams will surely boost it to Champions League 2012-13.
Henry’s next assignment is the Premier League match against Swansea City this Saturday where he would be looking to add more goals to his EPL tally.
Henry’s Arsenal FC are now trailing Chelsea FC and if they are to remain in contention for the European outing next season they will have to play out of their skins and Henry might have arrived just at the right time for the Gunners with the season just completing the halfway mark.
Henry has a great history at the Arsenal FC as he was the runner-up for the 2003 and 2004 FIFA World Player of the Year awards and won two PFA Players’s Player of the Year titles on the trot during the above-mentioned seasons.
Thierry Henry is the only player in the history of English football to win the FWA Footballer of the Year award for three times, i.e. 2003, 2004, and 2006 and has won French Player of the Year award for record four times.
Thierry Henry is the third highest goal-scorer in the history of Barclays English Premier League as only Alan Shearer and Andy Cole have scored more goals than the Frenchman who was the first footballer to score over 20 goals in the EPL for five successive seasons (from 2002 to 2006).
Age is the only concern for Thierry Henry as he has celebrated 34 birthdays in his life so far but his shorts stay at Arsenal would surely add a lot of glorious memories to his timeline.
Talking about what he is going to do at the Arsenal, Henry said, “Remember I am a Red Bulls player, and all this depends upon what the boss decides to do, and how long I am going to stay. But it would be a dream to be part of a team playing in the Champions League or playing against Tottenham. But that would be the same for any game, even if I never came on [from the bench]. I’m just trying to take all this in. That’s something I didn’t do enough when I was playing here before. When you’re at the ground every three days, you don’t enjoy it as you should. I know it’s not going to last long. I guess it was always going to be surreal. I just hope I don’t wake up tomorrow to be told by someone that this has all been a dream.”
