Tiger Woods misses out on Ryder Cup

KOHLER: After failing to win even a single tournament in the current season and finishing way down in the Sunday’s PGA Championship, former world number one golfer, Tiger Woods, for the first time in his career, has missed out an automatic selection for the US Ryder’s Cup team.

Now, the former world number one golf player is relying totally on the goodwill of Corey Pavin to earn him a place in the US team that takes on European one in the Ryder Cup later this year.

As per the US team’s rules, only top eight players of the season get selected for the US team and after the PGA Championship, Tiger Woods looks not even close to his best as he finished the Championship at 28th position.
The Ryder Cup starts from October 1 to October 3 this year in Wales.

The good news for Tiger Woods is that he can still be part of the US Ryder Cup outfit as Pavin has the authority to select four of the 12 players and he can still give him the chance to do something for the US in the Ryder Cup.

However, Tiger Woods seemed quite pensive about his chances of playing Ryder Cup. In an ironic tone, Woods said, “I think I’ve got a chance of maybe helping out in singles. I feel like my game is a lot better than it was obviously last week and given a little bit more time it’s starting to head in the right direction now, which is good. I’m looking forward to it; hopefully Corey will pick me on the team.”

Automatic selections for the US Ryder Cup team include Phil Mickelson, Hunter Mahan, Bubba Watson, Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, Dustin Johnson, Jeff Overton, and Matt Kuchar.
