Vettel becomes youngest F1 champion

ABU DHABI: Formula One, the premier motor racing event witnessed the crowning of a new champ as well as the making of a new record in its history at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Sebastian Vettel, the 23-year old German became the youngest ever F1 driver to win the event and with it became the new world champion. With this emphatic win Vettel’s season win tally reaches five.

Vettel, the Red Bull driver is now leading the points table with 256 points after his recent second continuous win at the Abu Dhabi whereas Alonso is just 4 points behind at 252.

The youngster no doubt was overwhelmed by emotions at the bombshell win and place that he has reached. Commenting while holding the chequered flag, the young lad said, thank you boys, its unbelievable adding that it’s a really great honour I don’t know what to say since I have now reached a hallmark that greats like (Ayrton) Senna, and Michael (Schumacher) have reached.

McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, the previous holder of the youngest champ place finished runner-up and was first to congratulate Vettel.
